Understanding and effective integration of multiple technologies is required for optimum stack performance and cost. Palcan has developed fuel cell stacks requiring only simple low pressure fuel pumps while utilizing either air or water cooling to accommodate a wide range of power densities. Design and materials improvements and manufacturing processes are being developed to produce fuel cells with optimum power density, acceptable lifetimes, and affordable costs. Key technologies and expertise include:

Design and manufacturing knowledge relating to core component and subsystem development in key systems gives the Company a significant advantage over competitors who are simply integrating purchased components. In addition to the previously mentioned technologies, the Company's system integration technologies and knowledge include:

Palcan's PalPac® 500 - UPS (uninterrupted power supply).
The PalPac® 500 UPS is designed to provide clean, quiet, uninterrupted power for up to 5 hours at 500 watts. It is ideal to ensure critical business equipment (telecommunications, data processing, networks, manufacturing, security and safety) remain functional over extended time periods when primary power is lost.

(4)The Components to Develop the Fuel Cell
The MEA is the heart of a PEM fuel cell and has the most significant influence on overall cost and performance. The foundation of the Company's development program is the MEA and associated competencies including electrochemistry, catalysis (platinum loading), materials and proprietary manufacturing techniques. A primary focus has been to increase power density while improving the economics through the incorporation and development of low-cost materials and processes.
The customer design MEA, graphite plate, Nafion equality per-fluorinated proton exchange membranes and controller products are available.

For any graphite plate, PCG100 (1 mm thickness), PCG200 (2 mm thickness), PCG300 (3 mm thickness), the price is the same. It is dependent on the size, for example, 6 inch × 8 inch plate is about $23 USD.

(5) Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage Devices
Metal hydrides, which are formed when metal atoms bond with hydrogen to form stable compounds, are ideal mediums for portable hydrogen fuel storage. Because the hydrogen is stored in a solid metal matrix at a low pressure of 6-10 atm and has slow release rate hydrides provide safety advantages in comparison to high pressure compressed storage. Metal hydrides are extremely well suited for use in consumer products requiring safety, ease of operation and distribution through conventional stores. In Palcan's portable products, refueling can be simply performed by replacing a small hydrogen metal hydride canister. Palcan's joint venture in metal hydrides targets material with the following advantages over competing products:

- Long life (over 1000 charge cycles)
- Ambient temperature operation (25° C nominal)
- Good resistance to impurities
