Strategic Alliances
Palcan has established a number of Strategic alliances including; two Chinese joint ventures, Wuxi Shangfu Energy JV and Palcan Suzhou JV, several cooperative agreements including ; Shanghai Power Research Institute a subsidiary of China Space Agency, University of East China and Ballard Technology.
Wuxi Shangfu Energy JV is between Palcan and the Wuxi local Govt. Wuxi city is an old, 3000 years old, city in Jiangsu China . It is often referred to as “little Shanghai”, which speaks to its industriousness as well as its proximity to Shanghai being 124 km from Shanghai.
Wuxi wished to expand its manufacturing base in the alternative energy sector and selected Palcan and its founder, Dr Shen, to move into the Fuel Cell space. Wuxi provided a mix of investment and grants including cash, office and factory space to assemble Palcan’s system integration product, “Palpac Remote”
This system is designed to provide electricity for remote off grid location. The system utilizes a new electrolyser that generates H2 from water that is stored in Plan’s storage system.
Shanghai Power Research Institute, a sub Chinese Space Institute. represents another strategic alliance for Palcan as they have co developed a new electrolyser for the PalPac Remote.
Palcan will assemble the PalPac Remote in the JV facilities located in Wuxi.
The Palcan Suzhou JV is a Joint Venture between Palcan and SuZhou City. SuZhou is also located in Jiangsu China. It is often referred to as the Venice of China due to the many water ways in the city.
The JV terms are similar to the Wuxi JV save that this JV is larger. It will assemble all other Palcan Products. The production facility is located in Suzhou Production facilities and can produce 5000 units/yr and will expand to 50K/ yr.
Ballard Technology
Palcan has elected to use Ballard Power System's as the supplier of fuel cell stacks for Palcan's various product lines.
Ballard is the recognized global leader as a stack developer in terms of quality and efficiency. Palcan will work towards developing a close relationship with Ballard to ensure that their stacks meet the needs of Palcan and enable it to expand its product offerings to a wider range of user groups.
Palcan has developed its own small fuel cell stack which is available as a 2nd source for several applications however using Ballard’s stacks enables Palcan to better focus on its strengths as a system integrator and marketing its product line.
